Ideas behind this:

<b>Simplicity</b>

Rather than the zillions of links we enjoy at the moment, there are four across the top. Peeg, PopQuiz, Contact Us, etc, all live under "more", which will be a separate splash page.

<b>More room for the forum</b>

The sidebar will vanish on forum pages, allowing the discussion board to stretch across the screen.

<b>Cleanliness</b>

For Rum and Monkey to continue, it needs to attract sponsorship. Therefore, a cleaner design was important. There will also be new graphics for things like "add to Twitter", which has been running really well on the tests for the past few weeks.

There will also be more content. The War Criminal Test is coming shortly ...

I dig it, but then I tend to like more simplistically designed sites. As far as removing the sidebar, I'm down with that, but I find the "Recent Discussion" box to be useful as it's a quick way to tell what's happened since I've last visited (which, lately, hasn't been much). Granted, there's the orange flags for that, but I also tend not to log in.

For some reason I really hate the header typeface. I don't even know why.

Since we're talking redesign, OH MY GOD THERE ARE SO MANY FORUMS and really not enough posts to fill them. Consolidation?

Rename the first section back to Debate, and move Photographs to The Internet and Meet-up Discussion to Rum and Monkey

I like "recent discussion topics," but otherwise approve of this redesign.

If I were Ben, or who ever the registered owners of this site, I'd be thinking that why can't R&M be like a Twitter or Facebook site. A site that has an innovative function that's clever and useful that catches on and used by millions of people; and before you know it, ABC's doing a news coverage of it.




RS is already a singularity, of ignorance. Once knowledge and common sense goes in, it can't escape.

That's what I do for a living. I kind of miss the original point of R&M, which was to subvert Internet memes in an anarchic sort of way that also made you think. (I *still* get emails about the Evil Criminal test.)

Red links gone. Sorry, was a mistake; you may need to do a hard refresh (ctrl-F5 on Windows, Apple-R on Mac) to pick up the new CSS.

I'm not sure about the database thing. Seems to just be on the forum; am investigating.
