I go past a load of buildings that were clearly grand country homes in the middle of rolling fields and have now been absorbed into the outskirts of Manchester on the way to uni. They're museums and bits of the hospitals and university now, which isn't so bad.

The City of Gulfport is paying my dad to redo his storefront because his business is on the historical main street. They came out and took measurements before Christmas and pretty soon they're going to be presenting him with some options. I think that's pretty sweet.

I should probably add that they're doing this for every business lest you think my dad has some spectacular rubbish hole of a store or something.

When they rebuild a historic district, it's no longer historic.

There are non historic buildings in a historic district, silly. His building is one of those. He built it in the early 90's.

And you can refurbish historic buildings so they are still historic but don't fall down into a crumple of dump heap.
