In the interest of returning this thread to Virgil's dog, again, I do hope you enjoy spending time with him, just taking time out and enjoying without distraction sounds like a great way to enjoy what opportunities remain.

If the Corgie lives to see Thanksgiving, he'll be lucky. If he lives to see Christmas, it will be a miracle.

I'm so sorry, Virgil. I was never more torn up than when my childhood dog/best friend had to be put down. I understand how heartbreaking it must be for you right now. :(

My favorite cancer survivor... In June, 07, he was given a month to live. Hope he makes it another year.

Never a pet more deserving of a blue ribbon. Good for him!

I love all dogs it's so sad when one gets sick. Many condolances and hopes that Corky beats the odds.

It seems like he went out happy. That's really the most one could ask for. I'm very happy if he did.

One of mine isn't going to be around much longer himself. I'll tell him to stop over by Corky's place for some shenanigans in the park.

It looks like you were a good owner to him, so like Mani said, he must have gone out a happy dog. Sorry Virgil.

Thanks.

I'm not too sad. I knew this was coming for months now. I'm happy he's out of his pain. When it got to the point that he had sores all over his body (I thought they were bite marks from the other dog until I took him to the vets on last Monday) and he couldn't move because he was so swollen from the cancer, it was time to go.

And I held him and told him he was a good boy before the vet injected him and I stayed with him for a while after his heart stopped. We was a little scared of the vets and he growled at me when I picked him up and placed him on the table(he always growled at me when I picked him up). But they gave him a double dose of seditive, which calmed him down.

what gets me is that he was suppose to last for 15 years, not five. I'm starting to hold a grudge against retail puppy places and puppy farms. This is the second puppy farm dog I've had to die before its time. They're selling inbred dogs.

The other dog still looks for Corky when I get back from walks. He checks all the places Corky used to be. He doesn't know his buddy isn't coming back.

That made me a little sad on the inside. Like a little kid who doesn't understand his father isn't coming back or something.

Anyway, losing a pet sucks balls, so yeah, condolences and stuff.

I'm sorry Virgil.

The in-laws dog has just been diagnosed with Lymphoma and she is going downhill fast. D:

Whenever I see a pic or think of Corky, I smile. Because I think of the joy he brought. There's this new dog, but I don't care about her. I just don't care about dogs anymore.
