So that's cool. Go Minnesota Supreme Court. Now Dems have a filibuster-proof majority. So that's way cool. Now they have to put it to good use.

I really can't wait for us to reach the point where all of our politicians were celebrities before they took office.

It's probably just before that point that I'm going to run, screaming, to another country. Begging them to take me in. Because probably the judges from American Idol will become Senators right before Armageddon. Governors were bad enough. Keep celebrities out of Congress.

Despite Al Franken's celebrity and my not really knowing anything about him, I think he's probably going to be a pretty decent senator.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how it happened.

Good thing I'm not a Minnesota voter.

When Bruce Willis runs for Idaho governor, I'll vote for him.

Here's the thing: I don't know much of anything about Al Franken beyond, of course, his work in comedy. This means that I don't know if he'll be a good senator or not.

I would like to believe that people learned more about his policy plans and ideas before voting for him, but it's more likely that they, much like Sarah, went Please don't, Mummy, it burns! CELEBRITY what IS APPARENTLY LEFT LEANING MMKAY.

:(

To be fair, though, how different is that - ultimately - from how popular elections are run on anything more distanced than the most immediate local levels, in general?

I just can't hate on a guy who wrote Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot. I'd probably vote for said guy, as it is a position I can get behind.

It's not all that different, for most people. I've never been able to understand how or why people refuse to become actively engaged in the political processes that ultimately define the way their lives are run. The very least people can do is educate themselves about who and what they're voting for...but it turns out that the vast majority of people are capable of doing less than the very least.

He's not a lawyer. The Senate's a different game than the public. Sure, he'll get re-elected, but he may not be able to do anything while in office.

They didn't used to, but then we elected Obama. Besides, if you make it clear you never voted for Bush in the first place, they're cool.

I don't think they care.

Then again, you have breasts, which are an asset to getting admitted to things.

If instead of Mexicans, there were Swedish blond chicks with big tits illegally crossing the American border, the Minute Men would be tearing down the fence to let those chicks in.
